Take a Journey of Discovery into the Past ...

The Journey begins at the Church of All Saints' & St James the Greater which sits in Silkstone, a former Mining community, nestled in the rural  foothills of the Pennines.

This 12th century Church was originally the "Mother Church" of the ancient Staincross Wapentake including the Township of Barnsley and many surrounding Parishes.

The Church's Windows, Monuments, Memorials and many other items of historical interest have many fascinating stories to tell. They are just the starting point for exploring the Heritage of the surrounding landscape and local communities.

This joint Project between the Parochial Church Council of All Saints' Silkstone and the Heritage Silkstone Group began in September 2011 and was completed in September 2014.

This Website was an integral part of the Journey updated as the Project developed and continues to tell about it achievements and progress

You can experience a "Google Tour" of the  inside of the Church by clicking on the "Links" section of the sidebar and then selecting "Google Tour".

The Heritage Centre is based in the "Bramah Gallery" situated in the Church of All Saints, Silkstone.
